South Kaioshin The Strongest?

This might end quick, but you see, I am having a small debate with someone because that person does not believe Dai Kaioshin was weaker than South Kaioshin. I'm saying being a leader does not always require you to be the strongest, Dai Kaioshin could have simply be smarter, he was the leader for a reason. But he says, "in the pantheon of godhood...no, it's not. There have been some VERY stupid high ranking gods that even mortals or lesser gods can easily outsmart." Then he proceeded to say he's sure Shin says South Kaioshin was the strongest among the four and not including Dai Kaioshin. Viz has Shin saying South was the strongest and burliest, so can anyone get a Herms and Anime sub out here?

Chapter: 508 (DBZ 314), P4.3-4
Context: East Kaioshin explains Boo's history
Kaioshin: “…First, two [Kaioshins] were killed…the North Kaioshin and the West Kaioshin….And then the South Kaioshin, the burliest and strongest one, was…somehow absorbed by Boo…..”
Elder Kaioshin: …And he become that huge Boo from before? “
Kaioshin: “…Yes……”

South Kaio is the strongest. Is he using anime filler to declare Dai Kaio as the strongest? Even so, it is clear that South Kaio > Dai Kaio through filler.

Nah, he believes it makes no sense, since when it comes to gods, mystical beings and all, the leader is always the strongest and he believes that quote refers to the four of them, not including Dai Kaioshin.

He is most likely a leader because of his intelligence, maturity, leadership, etc. power is not everything.

They're chosen by the fruit, a lottery. It doesn't make them the strongest.

And Kaioshin includes the Grand Kaioshin in that statement so your friend is being a limp moose.

Where Kaio come from
Toriyama is next asked what the Kaio’s heredity system is like. Toriyama explains that inside the giant ball that is the DB cosmos is a world called Planet Kaishin (World-Core), which is where the Kaio are all born and raised. This planet is like a giant version of the Kaio Planets that North Kaio and the others live on. On it is a gigantic tree (or trees; the lack of Japanese plural clouds up things again), the Kaiju (World-Tree), and the Kaio are all born from the fruit of this tree, as Shin-jin (Core-People). The population of this planet is about 80. The Shin-jin are genderless, and their average life expectancy is said to be 75,000 years. They live leisurely lives, studying various things at a school-like castle. But whenever one of the Kaio on the Kaio Planets passes away, they draw lots among themselves to choose who will take that Kaio’s place and become the new Kaio. The Kaioshin, however, are chosen only from among Shin-jin born from a special golden fruit that is particularly rare. Occasionally there are delinquent Shin-jin with evil hearts, and they go to be with the Makaio (“Demon Realm Kings”; apparently the Demon Realm answer to the Kaio, like the Makaioshin are to the Kaioshin, though Toriyama doesn’t explain the term).

Being a leader doesn't mean you're the strongest. Being a leader means you are the wisest and the one with the best ability to handle situations. Leadership does not equal being the strongest, that is just a general misconception.

That's true generally, but in the case of the Kais it could just be by luck of the draw.

I understand the point my friend brought, since we're talking about gods here, and the leader of mystical gods are almost 100% of the time the strongest. That and let's be honest, that quote is kinda vague, but either way, I thought it was generally accepted that South Kaioshin in terms of raw power was the strongest Kaioshin. And I don't think it works like that, KP, unless I'm misunderstanding your post because it seems like you're saying it's a type of "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" draw. Lol I mean we're choosing the leader of the entire universe, you would think the tree would be more serious about choosing it's leader.

I don't know, I just feel like there's more to it. I mean if that's the case, what if they chose Shin as the new Dai Kaioshin? Lol what a disaster..
